Search insurance enforcement records
What we have on this site today: Commerce enforcement actions against insurance producers, agencies, and companies (2000 to now), each linking the Department's own order. Searches are anonymous and never stored. We do notyet have the producer license roster; Active status and lines of authority are Step 2 below, on the state's own lookup, until our public-records request arrives.
Step 1 of 2: on this site
Search Commerce enforcement actions
Step 2 of 2: on the state's site (required for license status)
Check producer license status & lines of authority off-site
Commerce publishes no bulk roster of insurance producer licenses, so live status checks happen on the state's own lookup, which runs on a system called Sircon. We have a Minnesota Government Data Practices Act request drafted for the full producer dataset (license status, lines of authority, dates); when it arrives, Step 2 moves onto this page. Until then, the state lookup takes about a minute:
- Open the state's producer search at sircon.com (Minnesota consumer inquiry), the lookup Commerce itself links from its license-lookup page.
- Enter the agent's last and first name (or their license number if it is on your paperwork) and search.
- Check three things: the license shows Active, the lines of authority include what they are selling you (property, casualty, and so on), and the expiration date has not passed.
- Come back and run the same name through Step 1 above; a current license can still have an order history.
Questions about a license belong to Commerce itself: 651-539-1599 or licensing.commerce@state.mn.us.
